Local Law Enforcement
Around 50 vehicles have been marked with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the German municipality of Hanau near Frankfurt, as reported by police.
Cars, exterior walls and postboxes were defaced, in some cases with Nazi symbols, they stated in a official communication.
Law enforcement say they were contacted in the late hours on Wednesday evening, when a resident noticed that a automobile in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been marked with a reddish liquid.
The substance had been placed in the shape of a banned symbol, they stated.
Law enforcement then located multiple other smeared cars and residential walls in the adjacent neighborhood.
Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under laws prohibiting the public exhibition of symbols from the Nazi era.
Police state initial examinations show the liquid was probably blood from a person.
"There is still no lead as to where it came from; authorities are presently not informed of any physical harm in connection with the occurrence," they commented.
Municipal representatives stated they were trying "to resolve the case" and have asked to the residents for information.
A high-ranking representative stated the vandalism rendered him speechless and required to be solved promptly.
"This event strikes at the core of Hanau and reawakens the wounds of the extremist terrorist attack half a decade ago," he stated on social media, referring to the death of nine individuals by a gunman focusing on residents of migrant background in five years prior.
