From the very beginning of the fourth campaign, fresh DM Brennan Lee Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with extensive world-building, a wide array of heroes, and a gripping narrative showcasing angels, evil spirits, and sinister influences expanding in influence within the urban setting.
Heads-up: Key plot points for Episode 3 of this adventure lie ahead.
The Warrior Group Introduced
Episode 3 concluded with a major cliffhanger and presented the first table of adventurers who will branch out from the primary party to embark on their separate journey, apart from the additional parties.
This warrior group consists of the determined fighter (brought to life by Travis Willingham), the nimble rogue (Laura Bailey), the fierce warrior (Whitney Moore), Wicander Halovar (Sam Riegel), and the mysterious adventurer (the actor).
Dividing the Cast
Considering a large ensemble, it was evident from the beginning that keeping everyone at a single group would be unworkable.
This explains, the initial installments of Campaign 4 serve as an Introduction, weaving together the personal journeys before splitting into three distinct groups: Warriors, Schemers, and Questers.
What Defines the Soldiers Table
Per the Dungeon Master, the combat-focused party is for participants who enjoy a traditionally charged fight-heavy story mode where non-violent answers are few and far between.
Upon first impression, figures such as the hesitant healer Wicander Halovar might seem unsuited, but the actions of episode 3 make it clear why these five characters are best suited for the combat party.
Reasons to Leave
First, the party understands precisely where to head next after a brutal first encounter with the antagonists.
A former ally of Thjazi Fang—whose demise started the story’s plot—manipulated the enemy for his selfish purposes, entering Thjazi’s hideout, attacking Thimble, and swiping all the powerful objects to dispose of.
Casimir then paid off his debts and fled to a secure base in Gormalay, Timmony, above the urban center, with Teor’s brother close behind.
Character Drivers
Moreover, each character has a personal reason to exit Dol-Makjar:
- The rogue, as Thjazi’s partner and trusted friend, desires revenge.
- The adventurer has experience in Timmony and advises that it is a hostile place.
- The strong character and The healer, having disobeyed his relatives’ demands to eliminate the target and instead freed him, have no safe haven.
- But, their reputation as important members in the influential clan could assist the group reach places they normally couldn’t.
- Additionally, The fighter swore a unbreakable promise to Wicander for his rescue and will now accompany him everywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
Finally, all of them are hunted by the rulers that control the city for a variety of reasons, making remaining behind too risky:
- Thimble and The hero are notorious outlaws.
- Tyranny and Wicander defied the powerful family and the horde of evil beings they are allied with.
- The fighter is targeted for elimination by the clan.
This means them little choice but to head to the northern region in quest for the antagonist.
